Common questions

Is Amicus a substitute for a lawyer?

No. Amicus provides general legal information and document assistance. It does not provide legal advice and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. When a question calls for licensed legal judgment, Amicus flags it and offers a "Send to Attorney" action so you can route it to your firm's escalation contact. Always consult a licensed attorney for advice on a specific matter.

How does Contract Review work?

From the Contract Review screen, paste contract text or upload a file and choose a review depth — Standard, Deep, or Redline. Amicus returns an overall risk rating, a summary, an issues table colored by severity, a list of missing clauses, and redline suggestions. The result is general information; have a licensed attorney review any contract before you sign it.

How does the confidence rating work?

Each chat answer carries a confidence rating of high, medium, or low, reflecting how well-settled and clearly-sourced the underlying legal information is. A low or medium rating, or an explicit escalation recommendation, is a signal to seek licensed legal review.
